Visitors can discover the story of East Dorset with stunning Roman wall paintings, a fascinating childhood gallery and a unique Victorian Valentine card collection. Explore period rooms from a 17th century hall to the working Victorian kitchen.
Wander through a beautiful and peaceful walled garden. In the Garden Tea Room visitors can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink, a selection of delicious cakes, cream tea or light savoury snack.
Cost is normally £5.75 for adults, concessions £4.75 and accompanied children £1 each (this ticket is remains valid for a whole year, so is excellent value). However, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the festival, there is a special entry of £1 per person (free to children and festival wristband holders).
Music The monastic instruments, long horns, oboes, drums and cymbals are demonstrated , as is the technique of circular breathing.
Costumes Learn more about the significance of the magnificent costumes used in monastic dance.
Dance An opportunity to try one of the dances under the tuition of the Tibetan monk masters.
Debate An exhibition of the art of dialectical debate or Taksei used by the monks to demonstrate their knowledge of the scriptures.
The Mudras Learn from the Tibetan monks some of the Tantric offering mudras or hand gestures used to help the qualities of the deities in meditation.
It is often possible for participants to try playing some of the instruments after the workshop.
