Mendip Morris
Founded in 1956 as “Mendip Morris Men” we are now a mixed group. We perform Morris Dances around the North Somerset area to keep the tradition alive. The our repertoire is predominantly in the Cotswold style from South West England, but also includes Border dances from the Welsh Borders, North-West clog dances from Lancashire and North East sword dances from Yorkshire. On summer Thursday evenings we perform at pubs or other iconic locations, often in the company of our neighbouring morris dance teams. In the winter months we practice on Monday evenings, 8 – 10 pm at the War Memorial Hall in Congresbury. Many of our meetings, summer or winter, end up in a pub - singing and making music. We have a long history of travel to foreign events throughout Europe, as well as attendance at shows and festivals around Britain. Founded in 1956 as “Mendip Morris Men” we are now a mixed group.
